Biography

Dennis Bott is an accomplished expert in the Damage Prevention sector, bringing over two decades of experience to his role. He began his career in 2000 and joined ELM in Salt Lake City in 2001, where he served as a utility line locator for fifteen years. Following this, Dennis was appointed as the Nevada State Director, a position that enhanced his leadership abilities and industry influence. After his role at ELM, he managed the utility locating program for the City of Mesa in Arizona. In 2016, Dennis furthered his expertise as the Damage Prevention Administrator for Southwest Gas. His leadership skills were recognized as he was elected Vice-Chair of the USA North 811 Board of Directors and held the position of Chairman of the Board for the National Regional Common Ground Alliance (NRCGA). He has also made significant contributions to various committees within the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) and the American Gas Association (AGA). In 2024, Dennis transitioned to a new role as a Regulatory Engineer with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN). A strong advocate for the principles of Damage Prevention, Dennis maintains that effective communication is foundational to the process and is paramount to delivering exceptional customer service. He recognizes that end users of the 811 service are vital decision-makers while navigating critical utility infrastructure. As such, he emphasizes the necessity for utility owner-operators to provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive information to these stakeholders. Dennis believes that fostering clear communication between all parties is essential to minimizing utility damage and ensuring safety.
